FAQ
Common questions.
Is Free actually free forever?
Yes. The core capture and summarization features work entirely offline on your machine, with no gating. We’ll never add a “free trial” or force you onto a paid plan. The open-source codebase is public on GitHub.
When does Pro actually ship?
Pro features (Claude AI summaries, cloud sync, browser extension) are in private testing now and ship to the waitlist in May 2026. Join the waitlist and we’ll notify you before we open it publicly.
What’s the difference between Team and Enterprise?
Team gives you the admin dashboard, AI usage analytics, and branded content — perfect for a 5-50 person engineering team. Enterprise adds SSO, compliance (SOC 2), content approval workflow, and the AI Spend Justification Report designed for executive reporting.
Can my manager read my terminal history?
No. Admins see summaries and aggregated stats — never raw events. The encryption architecture enforces this technically: admins don’t have your encryption key, so they can’t decrypt individual events even if they wanted to. See our Security page for details.
What if my team is smaller than 5 seats?
Stick with individual Pro licenses until you grow. When you hit 5+ developers on the same workspace, the product will offer to consolidate into a Team plan with prorated credit for active Pro subscriptions.
Do you offer annual discounts?
Pro is $9/month or $89/year (17% off). Team billing is monthly by default — annual pricing available for teams of 10+ at a 15% discount. Enterprise is always annual.
What about nonprofits, students, or open-source projects?
Students get Pro free with a
.edu email. Open-source maintainers get Pro free for activity captured on their public repos. Nonprofits qualify for 50% off Team/Enterprise — contact us.Where is my data stored?
Free: 100% local, never leaves your machine. Pro: optionally synced to Supabase (US region by default). Enterprise: choose US, EU, or your own on-premise deployment. All cloud storage is end-to-end encrypted before transit.
Can I self-host Team / Enterprise?
Enterprise customers can self-host the full stack (FastAPI backend, admin dashboard, Supabase schema) on their own infrastructure. Team tier is cloud-only for now. Self-hosting instructions ship with your Enterprise contract.
How does the AI Spend Justification Report actually work?
TB’s capture hooks tag each event with the AI tool source (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini). The Enterprise report aggregates this by developer, project, and time period, then correlates it with git commit volume and ticket closure rates (when integrated with GitHub/Jira/Linear). The output is a board-ready PDF with trend charts and an executive summary.
What if I need a feature that isn’t listed?
Enterprise contracts include custom feature development for priority requests. For Team and Pro, we publish a public roadmap — feature requests with upvotes from your workspace get prioritized. For Free, open an issue on GitHub.
How do I cancel?
Pro and Team subscriptions cancel instantly from account settings — no forms, no retention calls. Enterprise annual contracts renew only with explicit consent; we never auto-renew without a signed contract extension.
